Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Matt "Shmang" Frondorf and I am the proprietor of Buckeye Baits. I am first a father to two wonderful boys, a husband to my lovely wife Kimberly, and a real fishing nut. I have chased Smallmouth since I was a youngster on rivers, creeks, and streams and that love has never ceased.

I have been fortunate to fish all over the country, everywhere from the Midwest (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois), to the South (Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia) to most of the major Eastern Rivers (Pennsylvania, Maryland, Maine). My lures have produced in all these States. If you need a special lure color for your local flow I may very well be familiar with that waterway and be able to add some insight into your color selection.

I started Buckeye Baits out of frustration. None of my local tackle shops carried the lures and items that I needed to target Smallmouth Bass. Sure, there were plenty of baits for largemouth, but it was difficult to find smaller sized jig trailers and buzzbaits less than 3/8 ounce in my area. Out of frustration I decided to start making my own lures to my own specifications. Hand tuned topwaters, specialty plastic colors, extra sharp hooks, and attention to detail is what I set out to produce.
